We are all living in unprecedented times. Let’s throw in – crazy and uncertain times. Each day we learn a little more. Each day we find out potentially how long this could last. We all hope it’ll be over soon, but science may have other ideas for us. But one thing everyone can agree on is we all have to live. And we need to do it in a safe, healthy and smart way.
So, is it totally nuts to think about having a wedding now?
It depends. What do you want to get out of a wedding? Would you and your partner be happy with just the two of you exchanging your vows of love with each other? Or, do you really want to add in that big extravaganza event with hundreds of your closest friends and family members live and in-person with you? If the latter, we all have to agree that’ll be a while.
But one thing we see in America is that when we’re under pressure, we get creative. We don’t succumb to the doom and gloom. We make sure we find a way to say “I’m here!” and “I’m gonna be happy!”
At FNA Events, we’re already seeing people think outside the box. Online dating is starting to happen where people match up with each other through well-known apps and then meet on their computer screens. Virtual proms are occurring in high school classes where people get dressed up in their gowns and tuxes and connect online. Check out John Krasinski’s virtual prom that he hosted and DJ’ed.
Realtors are showing houses online through virtual tours with comments like, “Wouldn’t you want to be quarantined in a house like this?” And families that are separated are getting together for virtual meals through Zoom meetings.
And, yes, people are having weddings. Maybe you already have your rings engraved with a date in them and are trying to figure out what to do. Maybe it’s just not in the plans to pushout the event another year. Or, maybe you’re just so much in love that you’re bursting at the seams and need to just do it now.
People are certainly getting creative and that alone can make your event much more memorable. We’ve seen couples wed on a Manhattan street with an official hanging out of an apartment window and well-wishers cheering from afar. We’ve seen online parties through Facebook with guests joining in to a virtual dance party run by a DJ. And, we’ve seen couples walk down the aisle with the pictures of their loved ones taped to the chairs.
The bottom line is love will find a way. And at FNA Events, we’re here to help you make it happen. Reach out and let’s get creative during this coronavirus. We have many ideas on how to go from “I do” to “Let’s party!” during this pandemic. Book time with us and let’s talk about making that wonderful day a reality – even if it’s a bit virtual.
